Talavera Talavera is a hand painted process on ceramics with its roots originating in Spain. The majolica technique is laborious and requires a skilled craftsman or artist to execute the process. Once the pottery has been fired from greenware to bisque, the skilled craftsman/artist uses glazes and stains to hand paint each piece. After completion the pottery is fired at a high temperature. The end result is a high quality piece of ceramic depicting a visual image. The Mexican Talavera tradition of painting originated in Puebla. The traditional color palettes are white, blues, yellows, oranges, reds and greens. Click photos below to enlarge image |
