Paper Mache Paper Mache is an art form that Mexico has taken a step beyond. Mexico is known internationally for producing the finest Paper Mache available on the market today. The process in the factories of Mexico is a ten step procedure allowing for the smoothest and lightest Paper Mache one has ever produced. The thin pieces of newsprint are soaked in paste and applied one at a time. After each application of wet newsprint strips are applied, they are sanded, this process is repeated ten times. Once complete, each article is hand painted with the perfect color to enhance its decorative elements. The trays and coasters are examples of this refined Art and Craft in Mexico. The figurines are done in the same process except where the drapery is depicting texture. The origin of these art forms are from San Miguel De Allende, Guanajuato and Tonala.
